Are you a New York apartment-ite who really likes your beer? For those who have a true devotion to the craft of beer drinking, the selection at some bars can be somewhat insulting. Sure, a bottle of bud or a pint of Newcastle may be enough to satisfy some, but for true beer connoisseurs, there’s only one options: The Blind Tiger Ale House. Featuring a wider selection of beer than
just about any other spot in town, real beer drinkers have found a home away from home at this swanky establishment. Don’t expect to find the usual bunch of local beers here, but instead, each beer is carefully selected for the best taste, smoothness and strength, making sure that its some of the best in the country. The result is a fantastic selection from all over the world, where the most difficult decision will be deciding just where to begin, and the hardest part of the night will be deciding when to stop.
With nearly thirty beers on draught, 50 beers bottled, and dozens of cask beers, you’ll have a hard time deciding just what to choose. You can choose from brands such as Abita, Allagash, Aecht, Great Divide, Sam Smith, Fort Collins, and numerous others that would take up more pages than you would care to read to describe. They have beers from all around the country, as well as a number of vintage beers, specialty picks, and even a Bloody Beer, a Bloody Mary made with beer instead of vodka. If you’re not particularly in the mood for a beer, or just want to change it up after a few brews, they have a fine wine list featuring nice reds, whites, ports, even sake. Blind Tiger is a drinker paradise, where the hardest part isn’t finding a pint you like, but instead trying to decide from all the great choices.
If you’re feeling a bit hungry, never fear, there’s a fine food menu at the Blind Tiger as well. If you’re just wanting something to snack on while you enjoy your beer, trying something from their small plates menu, including their famous Murray’s Cheese Plate, Rafael’s 7 Pepper Chili, caviar, deviled eggs, olive tapenade, or the soup or salad of the day. For some a bit more hearty, try one of their toasted sandwiches, such as their grileld cheese with tomato and avocado, their Italian tuna melt, or their cheddar melt with baconl, apple and onion. You can also choose one of their mini-sandwiches, including the Blood Beast, with fresh, house-roasted roaste beef, onion and Blood Mary sauce, sweet Italian sausage with sweet peppers, onions and provolone, or the Banh Hi, with pork, plum sauce and spicy mango slaw. They also have an every-changing daily special menu, so make sure to check the menu boards as you walk in, or you might miss out on something great.
If you’re looking for a great selection of beer not too far from your New York City apartment, then make sure to take a trip down the Blind Tiger, where beer is not just something that’s poured into a cup, but is more of an art form, featuring the greatest brews from all over the country, poured by folks who really care about what they’re doing, and know how to do it perfectly.
